Mr. Eisuke Miki,the new CEO of DoCoMo Communications Laboratories USA, Inc. San Jose, California, April 1,2005--- Eisuke Miki is appointed as President and CEO of DoCoMo Communications Laboratories USA, Inc. Mr. Miki joined NTT Electronic Communications Laboratories in 1985. Since then, he has been in the midst of two major technology tracks from development through deployment. Details are featured in July edition(25th) of our eNewsletter, "Communications".
DoCoMo USA Labs participated in CTIA, the largest telecommunications technology, services and product developments conference. New Orleans, Louisiana, March 14-16,2005--- At the CTIA Wireless 2005, DoCoMo USA Labs participated in two panels at both at NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and at NTT DoCoMo USA’s booth. The conference is the largest mobile telecommunications-related exhibition in the world featuring the latest telecommunications technology, services and product developments. NTT DoCoMo mainly exhibited videophones and movie services in demonstrations using the most recent FOMA 901i series; the i-mode FeliCA service utilizing mobile phones equipped with FeliCa contactless IC chip technology; 3G network technology; and the mobile communications. WCNC 2005 Technology and Business Applications Panels P8: The Leading-edge "Keitai" Applications: Changing Life Styles Co-Chairs : Naohisa Ohta, Professor, Keio University , Japan and Hiroyuki Morikawa, Associate Professor, University of Tokyo , Japan Abstract : This panel will focus on the new application trends of mobile phones. It is well-known that more than 90% of mobile phones ("Keitai" in Japanese) used in Japan are equipped with digital camera and Internet access functions. The newest models include such leading-edge technologies as a video camera , a digital terrestrial broadcast TV receiver, removable digital memory, and a smart card for making small payments. While phones so-equipped are still a small fraction of the total installed base, they are enabling new applications based on "Keitai and Digital CE" convergence and can potentially lead to changes in people's life style, not only in Japan but also in the rest of the world. The speakers at this panel will discuss the above mentioned trends of mobile phones from the view points of technologies, applications and services, as well as life styles. We have invited several distinguished speakers from Japan which is one of most advanced countries in terms of mobile phone applications. Sigur, President of tThe Japan Society of Northern California, official greetings and opening comments, came from Mr. George Har, Managing Partner of DEFTA Partners, who then introduced Ms. Carly Fiorina, Chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company. Ms. Fiorina spoke in depth and introduced honoree of the evening, Dr. Keiji Tachikawa, former President and CEO, NTT DoCoMo, Inc. Christopher J. Sigur talked about his mission of having this annual award gala event to strengthen cooperation and understanding between the peoples of the United States and Japan by providing interactive programs for networking. George Hara talked about the evolution of Personal Computing platform to a Pervasive Ubiquitous Communication platform. Communication, rather than computation, assumes the central role in this environment. He talked about Japan and the United States major roles in creating new companies and industries that capitalize on the trend towards pervasive ubiquitous communication platform. Carly Fiorina captured the audience with her charismatic and flawless talk which highlighted her long professional relationship with Dr. Techegawa by sharing many personal episodes that she had had with Dr. Keiji Tachikawa. In her discourse she covered their similarities and their friendship. She then introduced the honored guest of the evening. Dr. Keiji Tachikawa summarized his 42 years career path at the NTT DoCoMo and NTT. His accomplishments at NTT DoCoMo have changed the world of mobile devices usage by launching 3G technology, i-mode and FOMA. He was appointed as Corporate Advisor of NTT DoCoMo, Inc. in June 18, 2004. During his tenure at NTT DoCoMo, he helped to build NTT DoCoMo and it’s subsideraries into one of the world’s leading mobile communications companies, which provides wireless voice and data communications to tens of millions of subscribers in Japan.

Dr Etoh presented the" Carrier View Of The World" and shared his thoughts and reflections from his perspective as an industry leader and CEO of DoCoMo USA Labs. The Intel Corporation annually hosts this internal technical focus event for internal field and marketing engineers.
