Our operating system project focuses advanced operating systems for next generation cell phones. Our phones for open and dynamic 4G networks will run multiple applications simultaneously, run complex applications such as multiplayer games, run multimedia applications. In addition 4G networks are likely to be composed of multiple radio access networks, such as UMTS, WiFi, and some form of near field communication One of the most important goals of an operating system is to mediate applications access to device hardware and network resources. To enable better mediation of hardware we are focusing on several important areas including, but not limited to, advanced multi-network management including smooth handovers, advanced protection domain structures for processors for cellular phones, efficient process scheduling techniques, efficient network enable data storage management techniques.
